Kithara Trio

The Kithara Trio has been featured on several “Mostly Music” New Jersey-based concerts and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary in a noted concert at the Chicago Cultural Center. Famed London composer and conductor Sir Jonathan Willcocks composed “Sweet Music’s Power” for the trio and soprano, commissioned by the Green Lake Music festival, where the piece was first performed. When “30 Good Minutes” was in its prime, listeners could tune in to channel 11(WTTW)radio on Sundays and hear the Kithara Trio live. With two CD’s produced and arranged by the trio, (Beau Soir, an evening of French chamber music and Kithara Wonderland), along with many publications of classical favorites, the group has become well known for being unique and creative in their field. These musicians can be heard in many Chicago area musical ensembles individually, and continue together as a trio.

Cellist Jill Kaeding, a Musician Club of Women member, is known for her versatility in all mediums of music. As former member of Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues, she toured throughout North America and Europe. The group performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Chatauqua Institution in New York. Ms. Kaeding is a member of the chamber groups the Trio Elan, the HAWK String Quartet and Jazz String Quintet. Jill has also performed with the Lake Forest Symphony, Metropolis Symphony, Broadway in Chicago, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and the Goodman Theater. Ms. Kaeding has a bachelor of music degree from DePaul University and is adjunct professor of cello at Columbia University in Chicago.

Flutist Susan Saylor is an active soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout North America and Europe. She is currently Principal Flutist of Camerata Chicago, Metropolis Symphony, and the Handel Week Festival Orchestra. Sue is the founding member of the Mozart Project. She performs regularly with Broadway in Chicago, the Paramount Theater in Aurora, Il, St. Charles Singers, Valparaiso Bach Institute, Chicago Chorale, Apollo Chorus and the Milwaukee Symphony. Ms Saylor has recorded with the Milwaukee Symphony, Camarata Chicago, NuClassix Chamber Players, and GIA music publishing house. Teaching is a passion for Ms.Saylor. She has a private studio of more than 35 students, ranging from elementary to college level, and gives master classes and clinics in the Chicago area.

Harpist Faye Seeman is principal harpist of the Chicago Sinfonietta Orchestra, and is professor of harp studies at both Wheaton College Conservatory of Music and Northern Illinois University. Ms Seeman has distinguished herself as one of the most diversely talented harpists in the Midwest, venturing outside of playing traditional classical music. She recently joined forces with steel pan virtuoso Liam Teague, to form the duo “Pangelic”. The pair performs original compositions and arrangements of classics, jazz and folk music. One of Faye’s original compositions, “Fayed to Blue”, will be a featured with the Chicago Sinfonietta in its first series concert Tulsa, Oklahoma. in 2017-18 season. In 2006 Faye commissioned a concerto for harp and orchestra “Como un Sueno”, composed by Gustavo Leone, in memory of her musician father, Ernest Seeman. The piece features an extended improvised cadenza Summers Faye can be found teaching at the Birch Creek Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin, and at the Midwest Harp Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma
